I write German poems for free. Commission information

I make animations, create vector graphics, write German poems, I draw from time to time and I am trying out some typography. Oh, I also code some CSS when I'm bored, do that for free, too.

You can use most of my art for free because I published it under a Creative Commons license. Make sure you credit me by using my name (Ret Samys) and ideally link back to me.
If you want to, drop me a line about what you have done with it.

BaemaxGirl Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2015  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
ok, how much do they cost?
RetSamys Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
Oh, I think a minimum amount of gratitude would be enough. Saying 'thank you' would suffice.

Hey, I have a question on dA custom boxes! :D
I know there's a 'disabledbutton' effect that makes the custom box within your custom box semi-transparent. The problem is it also makes the words and pictures semi transparent.
Is there a way to make it so that the box is semi-transparent, but the other stuff isn't?

Or even, is there a way to make it so that when you mouse over the box, it becomes fully opaque?
RetSamys Featured By Owner Feb 18, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
Oh boy, the custom boxes... the truth about them is that they only unofficially let you change their design by using designs outside of the boxes from somewhere else on dA.

I happen to know the disabledbutton class and unfortunately, I've been told by someone who knows this stuff better than me that there is no way to make the content solid again. You'd have to find something on dA that undoes the semi-transparency done in a superior object, but that's unlikely, why would dA first make something semi-transparent to make it solid again?

If it was a Journal Skin, that's a lot more adjustable.

So, what else could work? You could use the ch-ctrl class to make a fully transparent box. The question is if you can fill it up with a semi-transparent image afterwards... no, doesn't seem to work properly.

Ahhhh suck. Thanks anyway!

Oh, I might have several other questions actually. Is it possible to do that thing where when you mouseover a link, a box with text appears? But not the title="" thing because that takes a while to appear, and usually people don't realise it's there.
Or what about when you click something and a box expands on the page?

… Am I asking for too much

Never stop asking, you might get a good answer one day.

OK, first, let's have a look at the second question. Clicking on something and letting something happen after that is usually done in JavaScript, not in HTML or in CSS. I'm not sure if you know the difference, but it's something like this: HTML and CSS are purely descriptive, JavaScript (or whatever you want to use to make this onclick event) means real programming... even if an online service like dA lets you edit some design, they very rarely let you add JavaScript because of performance and security reasons.
In short: No click-related thing possible. At all.

Hovering. That's definitely possible with CSS (meaning it's perfectly doable for Journal Skins). I'm pretty sure that if it was possible for Custom Boxes, I would have seen it somewhere. But let me look it up.
No, doesn't seem to work. And I checked the few drop-down menus on dA I know about, they all work with JavaScript, so we can't use those either.
In short: No hovering in custom boxes either.

I get that with the title or the acronym title, it's different from browser to browser. But I just can't help you with that on dA. You could place the acronym tag on all your title-related stuff, though.

hey man! i just want to say it's a very generous act for you to be coding all these journal skins for free. i remember having you do the css of a few journals back in the day. i don't know if you remember me, but i moved accounts from Cushies.
anyways, its so cool of you to do that sorta thing!
RetSamys Featured By Owner Jan 12, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
Unfortunately, I don't remember you at all. I'm really sorry, but there have been quite a few people wanting me to code stuff for them. Which is great, I like coding Journal Skins. But due to the number of requests and due to my very selective memory, I can only remember a finite number of people on the internet.

So, all the more thanks for remembering me! And just in case you are the one responsible for people getting to my profile to request coding, have a cookie: :cookie:

RetSamys Featured By Owner Jan 11, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
I can. But before I do that: If I code it with that background image, it will also have "Title", "Header", "Body" and "Footer" in the background. Are you sure you don't want to give me the image without the writing in it first?
R-ea Featured By Owner Jan 11, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
oh! u dont have to use the bg image!,are you able to make it so ica n just put a link for a bg image in the jd code? :0
