Hey, by the way, question. My animated cursor doesn't seem to be working … :\ Is there a secret to it, or is it just dA being a bitch?
Right now I've changed it a png for higher quality.

Oh, an animated cursor? No, that won't work. It'll be displayed in most modern browsers, but it'll only display one frame. It's just not something that would work because of how the CSS cursor works. There is a way to replace the cursor over and over again with JavaScript... but that's really not efficient.

Of course, if you see an animated cursor somewhere, do let me know so that I can see how it works.

Ah, that's a shame >.>

I'm pretty sure I've seen them around, the one coming to mind being an arrow with a little swinging thing. I'll let you know next time I spot one.

Depending on your computer settings, this might be the case! cursor:wait, auto; will display the computer's waiting cursor, which in many cases can be animated. I use Win8, so this will actually show a rotating circle.

What would you suggest is the best width for a journal? One that can take up the space instead of being small on the left corner? XD

The best width for a Journal Skin is none at all. Ideally, the Skin adapts its width with the width of the disposable space (depends mostly on window size/screen resolution). This, of course, is done with repeatable background art.

If that's not an option, there are a few sizes that might be important.
  • In my experience, only very few Journal Skin designs can manage a width of 400px or below. I am referring to the width of the main text, here. Paragraphs become too narrow to read comfortably.
  • There are people with rather small screens out there. When fixing the width of a Journal Skin, this means that the right side of the Journal is cut off because it is hidden by the "Add to Favourites", the sharing buttons, the "More Like This" and so on. The smallest screen that I have ever worked with required a maximum total width of about 660px for Journals. Maybe placing the main text on the left (which is rarely done) might circumvent that problem.
  • The smaller the single images are, the better. Not only does it mean less traffic to load, it also needs less time to display - because if you have a bigger image, that can actually take a few minutes. Again, repeatable, small images are the way to go. Other than this, anything above 1000px total width might begin to cause problems.

One more thing: If you are concerned about the Journal being stuck to the left side because it is too narrow for your browser window, there is a solution! It is possible to put it right in the middle with margin:auto; in .journalbox or body (depending on whether you use body or not). As for the opposite, if your Journal Skin design is too wide, it is possible to scale down the images in the code (with background-size).

Well, in this case, it would be better if "Enter Title Here" and "Journal text here" wouldn't part of the image because I can't do much about the "Journal text here" without making it look weird (a solid block of colour covering the text, for instance). Unless, of course, you plan on leaving those in the final design.

That would be my recommendation. I can still code it if you like.
