This has been created as a test to see how fonts work (I think I'm going to do more of them when I get the time), as an entry for

's February challenge "key", with use of Public Domain resources found here and here, Inkscape, OnlineFontConverter and FontForge.
The preview image was made in GIMP and used Trepidation Tesselation Tile as background pattern.

The downloadable ZIP archive contains the following files:

LICENSE.txt (text about the licensing - short version: it's basically Public Domain!)
SamysKeysNKeys.otf (OpenType installable font file)
SamysKeysNKeys.ttf (TrueType installable font file)
SamysKeysNKeys.svg (original file - not installable)
prevSamysKeysNKeys.png (preview image file)

Currently, the font supports the characters a-z,A-Z. All other characters are replaced by a lock.

Whoops! I didn't want to put it under CC-BY. I wanted everyone to use it for free, without needing to give me credit! (dA doesn't have an option for CC0.)

I fixed it. No more CC-BY, now everyone can use it any way they want.

It's absolutely Public Domain, like it says in the description.

Of course, PD is not a legal license everywhere around the world in this case, but the minimum requirements are also met by the text in the description.

Oh, I noticed that the [space] character is not supported. You will get a lock instead. And I'm too lazy to fix it

Tried it out. looked rather funny, like a minefield of keys with some lone numbers and puncuation marks in it. But I have to add this critique of your font: It is a little illegible

No need to get keyed up about it. I don't want to lock horns with you, I'm afraid I would space out - I've always been the quiet type, face away, please, or I'll call my italic friends to underline the consequences of your boldness.

I'm not very font of my puns, even an elefont could do better.
