Wow! This makes me feel like I am driving! What a great illusion. Maybe the sky looks a little odd, the way it is moving sideways, but overall, the perspective of the road is really great. It can actually make me dizzy if I stare at it for too long!
Some improvements may be some road signs on the right side. They don't even have to be fancy, just something with a 'Straigh Ahead' arrow, or something to that effect, or, if you wanted to put a speed limit sign, that could improve the illusion more, too. Adding the silhouettes of mountains in the distance could be really neat, too. And a moon....
Okay, I'm getting pushy and crazy now.
My gifs are so amateur and crappy, it's nice seeing something better. I am addicted to gifs, so this will surely go in my favorites.
Road signs? Cool idea, but it would either look rather weird having too much repitition or it would make the animation too long. Mountains are an interesting idea, since it seems like I should replace the background anyway.
I also have rather crappy animations in my gallery.
Yeh, you're right. Road signs would be too strange, looping over one another. It would be like driving in a circle!
The mountain idea seems a little better. I personally like the sky, but I think it should be moving the same direction as the road instead of sideways. Once again, don't take my words as law. I'm just throwing out ideas.
You are so welcome! I'll try to remember to check out more of your works!
I really like the color of the sky; I would like that the stars are a little more scattered and had flashes, it seems that some of them were fully aligned, and are more than three, which gives the impression of not being natural.
I also like the clouds, but perhaps had slightly altered the pattern; you could appreciate a little more messy and dispersed nature of these and not seem calculated.
You could perhaps add some signage to the sides, or something. Very good work, continue so!
Commented on behalf of ProjectComment I'm not very sure of that throughout this well written since I don't speak English, I did my best.
Hi, This peice is great i love the road wiht teh bumps on the left side the give it a more traved look thank the straight line would have like on the right side mabey that should be made sligtly more non straight to make it all match some and give both sides the woren look and the endlessness is wonderfull but i think the clouds are too real looking i mihgt look better if they were only have the skyline or more of a solid than the semi transparent that they are and they seem to be moving rather quick. But all in all its a great gif very well done.
Ah, yes, I could have added some symmetry on the road. The clouds are a problem, aren't they. But I really wanted them in. Maybe I'll think of something to improve it. A skyline would be an interesting idea. That I won't use, because it doesn't quite fit into what I had in mind. But still a good idea.
A rather mesmerising GIF that you can stare at for some time I like the impression of eternity that this evokes. The animation itself seems smooth and well looped (I'm getting some occasional jerkiness but I think it's my browser; I have it so weighted with add-ons that nothing plays perfectly smoothly these days.)
I do find the clouds a bit incongruous with the rest of the piece--I think it's because you have used solid colours for most of the piece, and then used a more realistic rendering for the clouds. Also, I feel like the clouds are moving a little too quickly; it would perhaps give a more restful impression if the right-left movement was slowed down a little--but this might be more a matter of personal taste
All in all, this is a nice animation and an interesting, evocative concept. Good job!
Oh, yeah, I think you're right. Everyone in the comments seems to agree that the sky, mainly the clouds, is the problem here. And it is moving to quickly. But I wanted to keep the amount of frames down.
This is really a job well done. I really like how the animation of the streets and clouds are going. The animation is really smooth. But the only problem is the sky. You did okay with the sky, but it needs a little bit of work in order to make a realistic animation. I recommend using 3DS Max for more smoother animation, and modeling. Overall, you did good. Just got to work on the details. That's all.
Thank you! I don't think I ever went for realistic animation for this one, it was supposed to be more like a video game graphic. Using a 3D program is more or less out of the question. Too much rage quit. Still, I guess the sky could have been better. My problem was that I wanted to have as few frames as possible, which meant creating a repeatable cloud pattern. Hence the simplicity...
